ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — This week on Empire State Weekly, a group of gun owners have brought a legal challenge against a new state law that changed how background checks are performed. State Senator Dan Stec, explained his reaction to the provision of New York's Concealed Carry Improvement Act, which requires background checks to be run for both firearm and ammunition purchases. GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Starting in July, the city of Glens Falls has been hearing questions about the color of residents' water. Two spikes in activity in the city water system are considered isolated incidents - but the city is still trying to figure out what caused them. "We had two issues, in July and September, where we had a large increase and spike in water usage, from - we assume - an industrial user," said Glens Falls Water & Sewer Superintendent Bill Norton. "We think it had to have been a six-inch line or greater."Both spikes in the system had the same effect: Brown or otherwise discolored water coming out of taps around the city. ST. LOUIS – An arrest has been made in the September 19 shooting in south St. Louis. Desante White, 29, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The victim, Timothy Moore, 32, was in the 2700 block of Miami when he was found in the street after being shot. When EMS arrived, they notified the police that Moore was dead.
